By way of an apology for the radio silence the past week plus, let me just say this has been quite the busy week or so.
Not that the week before was all that quiet either, but last Friday I left work to spend some time at the beach with some friends. It was an excellent weekend in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Copious amounts of alcohol were consumed during the evenings, and I escaped the days without sunburn.
I came back from the beach a bit early on Sunday to spend some time prepping for a progress review with a client on Monday, which went very well. Then I jumped right into another team prepping for a big client demonstration on Wednesday. A couple of late nights preceded that presentation, punctuated by a marathon session of planning for the Washington, DC chapter of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals. The client demonstration was on Wednesday, it lasted all day and was very draining. Thursday was spent running around trying to catch up with people at work I had basically ignored all week because of the client sessions, catching up on task status and getting plugged back in to my big project. Friday was supposed to be spent doing some development work, but that morning we got a request from a client to have a relatively significant piece of work turned around by COB that day. So we dropped everything and got that turned around.
This weekend should have been recovery, but my friend Scott is in from out of town. Yesterday we went to the Nationals game (they lost to St. Louis 6-0). That’s about all the energy I had, and last night was devoted to vegetation and devouring some of those great episodes contained in my new set of DVDs for season 6 of the Simpsons. Ever since Friday I’ve also had the distinct sense I am coming down with a cold. My runny nose this morning is testament to the fact that I was correct about that.
Here’s hopping for a mellower week this coming week, save for the Green Day concert on Tuesday night. Thankfully it’s a short week with a day off Friday to fly to Montreal for the holiday weekend (and a Green Day concert there on Sunday).
