Catching Up

A bit has gone on the last few days, I thought it might be worth a quick catch up entry.

I’ve been in training for a bit of software we use at work Monday through today. The training was in Poolsesville, Maryland, which is a small town just a few miles the other side of the Potomac River. The fun bit about commuting to and from Poolesville is that the most convenient way to cross the river is on the ferry. White’s Ferry is a few miles north and east of Leesburg, and takes you accross the river to the Maryland (or “Mer-land” side). Despite being pricey ($5 round trip), it was a completely charming way to travel.

Another big story in the Washington area this week so far has been the weather. Monday was gorgeous, flirting with 70 degrees. Tuesday was snowy, windy and very cold. The two days could not have been more different from one another. Really a very odd turn of events.

The big exciting news today was that my new Mac Mini arrived. Woo hoo! This is officially my first blog entry from the Mini, which I intend to name “Smithers.” I won’t have much of a chance to muck around before I go to bed tonight, but at least it lives. Migrating all of my content over from my laptop has been easy as pie. Mega kudos to Apple– just stop suing bloggers and be nicer to people whose VGA monitors (unlike mine) do not work with the Mini.

Before I go for the evening, bit big congratulations to Enigma for his job offer from Microsoft. It may be the evil empire, but it’s also a paycheck. Give them boys in Redmond a learning, kiddo!
